Arecibo Observatory - End

At the end of the day, I could not resist but give a little "astronomy" speech to the renowned scientists at Arecibo Observatory. I think they enjoyed it as much as I enjoyed the visit. :) Overall, it was worth the 1.5 hour trip from San Juan (Puerto Rico's capital)! I would definitely come back again!

Nice trip report Andrew. My only view has been via the bond movie! It was good to see and learn a bit about this observatory.

Glad you liked it!

I actually watched that part of GoldenEye again right after visiting Arecibo.

It the movie the dish is made out of concrete and holds water to make it look like a lake from the air. In reality it is made out of perforated aluminum panels so it would be leaking just a bit :)

Another good example of Hollywood's imagination at work.
